New Affordable Housing for Seniors in Vaughan

There are 228 units of affordable housing for seniors underway in Vaughan – part of the Canada-Ontario Affordable Housing Program. Funding has been provided through the Canada-Ontario Affordable Housing Program, York Region and the City of Vaughan for two new affordable housing developments for seniors.

Hesperus Village, Thornhill – 60 units – Hesperus Fellowship Village

Mapleglen Residences – 84 units - sponsored by the Regional Municipality of York

There are currently 6500 households on the waiting list for rent geared to income housing in York Region.

A Key Leadership Role

"Our recent project working on the transportation needs of the homeless is just one example of the leadership role the York Region Alliance to End Homelessness has taken. They were able to co-ordinate and facilitate the needs assessments, and focus groups. As one agency this is something we would be hard pressed to find the time to do, but participating and giving information to one central organization made it all work."
